i’m often a drummer, sometimes a drum tech, occasionally a producer, and always a geek. i play drums in a band called saves the day and live in minneapolis, mn.
i love documentaries, wikipedia, technology, puns, movies, music, bowling, video games, board games, karaoke, and riding bikes.
i was born in chile, but have lived in minneapolis since i was seven. i’ve been to australia, belgium, canada, france, germany, ireland, japan, mexico, netherlands, peru, switzerland, and great britain. (sadly, half of those were only enjoyed for mere hours, as i was on tour).
my attention span is really short. i tend to start a lot of books, but never finish them. i’m more interested in non-fiction. ashes to ashes, freakonomics, end of faith, the god delusion, a brief history of time, eats shoots & leaves. i’m also a big fan of wired magazine.
my favorite movies of all time are: adaptation, magnolia, pulp fiction, memento, being john malkovich and that thing you do. i love michel gondry and charlie kaufman. i’m also obsessed with documentaries of all types: spellbound, capturing the friedmans, hoop dreams, king of kong, manda bala, street fight. i’ll also watch any movie in japanese, no matter how cheesy or gory (as they tend to be!): nana, audition, machine girl, suicide club, love*com, battle royale, kamikaze girls.
musically, i have very diverse taste and can appreciate most music, in a live setting. if i hear live music coming from somewhere, i will follow the trail, with a smile on my face.
some favorites include: the beatles, the police, the dismemberment plan, the weakerthans, hey mercedes, led zeppelin, green day, the velvet teen, radiohead, muse, man man, ted leo, and whatever project i’m working on. i’m also pretty ok with anything played on the current.
i spend a lot of time thinking about raging against the machine, damning the man, pondering the merits of a resource-based economy, and things of that nature. a man can dream, right? haha.
